Mo-Kan VW Club Donates $1000
All proceeds from the 2003 raffle were donated to The Women's Transitional Care Services Center of Lawrence.
WTCS works towards peace in the world by the elimination of violence in our communities. Therefore, they are dedicated to the empowerment of women and children; the creation of peaceful, safe space; the promotion of equality and respect for all people; the appreciation of differences; and the social action necessary to achieve these goals.
They have shelter programs where the residents are provided with 3 meals a day that they make (24 hour access to food), personal care items (shampoo, deodorant, tampons, etc.), towels, sheets, pens, paper, and rides for the first week of their stay with bus passes thereafter. They have individualized programs for women, children, and volunteers. They also provide counseling and emotional support as well as provide opportunities for the women and children to connect with others who have experienced domestic violence. There is a 24 hour crisis line that is available to anyone who wants information about domestic violence, needs to access their services, or needs referrals to other community services. They are a non-profit organization that can only stay open with our help and contributions.
